Casa Singerna in Tuscany, Italy, has been beautifully reconstructed from an old barn originally built on the site of an old Roman fort. It has fabulous views over the lake and mountains to the east and to valleys and mountains to the north. It is ideally placed for day excursions to Florence, Sienna, Assisi, Arezzo and many little local historic medieval towns. Piero della Francesca was born and worked in Sansepolcro (20 mins. away) and Michelangelo was born in Caprese (10 mins. away). There are many local markets where the farmers bring in their produce and restaurants abound, from the simple pizzeria to the serious beef steaks with truffles. Should you wish to know how to cook true Italian dishes there is a chef who comes in and you eat what you have learned to prepare. There is babysitting available if the adults wish to go out of an evening. In the summer there are concerts given in the churches and piazzas by many well known musicians and orchestras and in July there is the world famous jazz festival in Perugia. Shopping varies from the designer outlets to local craft shops selling ceramics, exquisite jewelry, and Arezzo is the 'gold' town and also hosts a famous antique market the last sunday of every month. For the 'fitness freaks' the bicycling is fantastic; the walks are truly lovely, and for the patient fisherman there are many wily trout in the lake. For the children there is a grand piano, badminton, archery and ping pong and of course the swimming pool, and lots of toys and books. We also have boar in the woods, deer and porcupine and amazing irridescent beetles for the children to collect. Casa Singerna is a marvellous place for any age in which to relax or from which to explore; and the Italians' friendliness is wonderfully heart warming.
