Property 4 Warm, cozy and beautiful vacation rental cottage located in Winter Harbor. You've heard of the 3 season location. This is even better. Sort of a three location vacation. Enjoy being near the ocean, the feeling of being in a cottage out in the countryside and yet you are right in town (sort of). Have it all!
The cottage is completely furnished (and decorated) with everything we can think of that you may need even including complimentary items that you may forget like coffee, tea, toothpaste, shampoo, razor and more. As like our other rentals we try not to do things just half right.
The interior has an open ceiling.. In addition some of the walls have been left so that the natural wood is visible to give it that just the right ambiance. Except for the bathroom the floors are natural eastern white pine finished the old fashioned way with tung oil.
I built this the way I wanted it, a place having the illusion of being rustic yet beautiful and with all the comforts and conveniences of home. Pictures don't really don't do it justice. You have to see it, especially in the evenings.
So, if you are like me. You want something special. You don't want to walk into a rental that looks like the house you just left. Then this may be the place for you also.

Property 2 The Settlers House is the oldest remaining home on Schoodic Peninsula. The home has a warmth & serenity that is difficult to put into words. Except for all the modern conveniences it feels like my Great-Grandmothers house once felt. Even though we love staying here ourselves it's easier to let our guests comments speak for it.
The cape cod portion of the home is the oldest section. This style with its sturdy post and beam construction was very popular with the early settlers. During a more recent renovation just decade ago in which I added the dormer windows I found that the roof is actually put together with wooden pegs instead of nails. I also found fragments of newspapers used for insulation prior to the civil war. One piece had an ad for rewards for escaped runaway slaves. A date on another of the fragments was Thursday, March 21, 1839. The year 1765 is carved into one of the timbers under the living room walls.
The Settlers House has been added too and renovated probably dozens of times but its simple beauty, charm and colonial aura remains and are inescapable.
Not only is Settlers House a great vacation home for couples and families. But with the king and queen bedrooms and bathrooms being at opposite ends of the home and all of the bedrooms being apart from each other it is also the perfect getaway for two or even three couples.

Property 1 Make the last turn at the end of the point in Winter Harbor and you've reached your destination. Don't worry about missing it. You can't go any farther without a boat. Sitting at the end of the lane this three bedroom cottage is in town but still off the beaten path so to speak. It's private and quiet and it is easy feel like you are all alone in the world except of course for the lobster boats pulling their traps in the morning and the resident eagles soaring overhead all day. From here you will be able to walk to all the shops and everything else the town has to offer. Or hike to the park to enjoy all it's natural treasures. Treat yourself this year. Experience a little bit of life in the slow lane and real downeast pleasures.
